It's not the 'Ove Glove' nor a tribute to Michael Jackson

No Thumb Zone

Madison has been sucking her left thumb for sometime now. In an attempt to stop her thumb sucking habit, we started telling her that sucking her thumb was gross and that "Big Girls" don't suck their thumbs. FYI Being a "Big Girl" is a big deal for those of you who have yet to experience the joys of potty training. This worked for about two weeks or so, constantly reminding her not to suck her thumb. There are several methods out there to stop thumb sucking, like using hot sauce or bitter tasting nail polish. For me the thought of Madison potentially rubbing hot sauce in her eyes or sucking on lacquer all day just didn't sit right. I did a little research and found a method of wrapping or covering the thumb. If your a new Mom like me, don't try a band aide or gauze and medical tape. it just doesn't stay put on the hand of a two year old. Madison was entertained for about 10 seconds "Hmm... how do I remove this giant sticker on my thumb". Now there is no need to get all fancy with a thumb contraption like below a good old pink winter mitten modeled by Madison above works just fine.
Though Madison can easily pull the glove off her hand or suck away on her right thumb, she has yet to do so. Two weeks with the glove on all day seems to have broken the habit.

4th of July

This 4th of July was a blast! We went to a BBQ at Uncle Jack & Aunt Sondra's house. Madison Loved playing with Jayda. It was so much fun to see the girls together. They played in the pool, chased bubbles, shared Jayda's toys, and of course watched Elmo together. Casey did awesome on the BBQ with chicken, burgers, dogs, and ribs. You may have some competition Bendo! Let's see how your smokers, all 4 of them, handle the challenge! It was great to see my cousins and watch our kids play together.

Jenny's 40th Bday

On Saturday June 26th 2010 We had a busy day! First we participated in the Relay For Life, then it was home for lunch and Madison's nap, and then out the door to my cousin's 40th Luau Birthday party. It was great to visit with family and celebrate Jenny's Bday. Madison made a new friend, Sage, and they chased one another around the party squealing like crazy. At one point, a large sprinkler that normally is attached to a garden hose, was a neat toy to share. They each wanted to hold it and would take turns sharing with one another. FYI, though Madison can make a toy out of almost anything, no need to think twice that a garden sprinkler would be a good gift for her. All and all it was a great day. Happy Bday Jenny!

Relay For Life

On Saturday June 26th 2010 My Mom, Madison and I participated in the Relay for Life at Sonora High School in La Habra, CA. We went in support of Team Primarily Hair who raised over $9,000.00 so far and are accepting donations through August 31st 2010. If you want to donate, click on the donations hyperlink and search for my mom Luana Molnar or for her team Primarily Hair 2. I was so proud of my Mom for standing up and sharing her story with everyone. No matter how big or small, cancer is cancer! My Mom, Madison, and I all wore pink in honor of those that have battled breast cancer to "Celebrate, Remember, and Fight Back". The Orange County Register wrote a nice article and captured some great pictures. Here are a few.

Coming Soon!

Our next Adventure is a trip in July 2010 to New Hampshire. My daycare provided is going on vacation and will not be able to care for Madison, so I figured we'd go on vacation too. We will be visiting my brother and his family! This is the first time Madison and I will meet the newest member of our Family Chloe Brooke Molnar. We can't wait... I'm even going to be able to see Zack my nephew and Sky my niece, since they will be visiting from Virginia. Amanda, I'm sorry we will miss you. I even purchased a portable DVD player for our trip. It just made sense; a two-year-old strapped into the seat of plain for 5 + hours. Should be fun...

Sesame Street Live: 1-2-3 Imagine with Elmo & Friends!

On Saturday, May 15th 2010 I took Madison to her first concert.

It's not everyday your going to take your two-year-old to a Sesame Street concert, so of course we had to get floor level seats. I didn't think I would have as much as I did. My mom really enjoyed it too. The best part was watching Madison's face light up. Of course she was fashionable in her matching Elmo outfit, hair bows and all. In the beginning she was a little unsure of the characters dancing around on stage. All she wanted to do was sit back and eat her snack. After the intermission she really got into it, she was jumping around with some kids in the aisle. Yeah! I was one of those parents! At random the characters would walk off the front of the stage and walk right in front of the kids giving them high fives. I was on the edge of my seat ready to grab Madison just in case she decided to follow the characters around. She continued to inch forward along with the other kids ready to attack Elmo for a hug. It was awesome, just look at her face!
